While I’m in a fasted state, I like to test my blood sugar level. I like to go to bed knowing my blood sugar levels are already in the fasted range. I don’t know who to ask so I am hoping a few people know here. Is it possible that some strips read higher than normal? The reason I ask is that all week long my tests have been about 5 to 10 points higher than normal. Last night, while already being fasted for 23 hours, I ate an avocado, 3 pouched eggs, and cheese that’s it. Oh yea 2 serving sizes of chicken meet (no breading, just the meat) and about a half a cup of salsa. And 8 hours later my blood sugar level was 97. Before I was going to bed. And this morning at 9. It was 96. I ji Which is technically not bad but I know my blood sugar and how I react. So I took a test strip from a different bottle and it read 87. (That seems normal for being fasted for 14 hours) especially considering when I ate, what I ate and how my body reacts to the foods I eat. And 3 out of the last weekdays my blood sugar was over 100 before going to bed, and I just thought that’s higher than is typical considering what and how much I ate. Yet why would 2 test strips give a 10 point difference? Now I’m thinking this set of strips is 10 points or so high. For the record I don’t have diabetes, just someone who wants to remain metabolically healthy and reverse any insulin resistance I’ve developed over the years.

It’s possible that the test strips are giving inaccurate readings. Factors such as strip quality, expiration date, and storage conditions can affect the accuracy of the results. Additionally, user error can also play a role. To ensure accurate readings, try using a new bottle of strips, checking the expiration date, and following the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. If you’re still concerned, consider consulting with a healthcare professional for further guidance.
